Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vantara, an animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, showcasing his strong commitment to animal welfare. The event was attended by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani, their son Anant Ambani, and daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant.

During his visit, PM Modi explored the various facilities at the centre, which include state-of-the-art wildlife hospitals equipped with MRI, CT scans, and ICUs. He interacted closely with several rehabilitated animals, including Asiatic Lion cubs, White Lion cubs, and a rare Clouded Leopard cub. One of the cubs he fed, born at the Centre, was rescued after its mother was brought to Vantara for care.

The Prime Minister also witnessed an Asiatic Lion undergoing an MRI and a Leopard undergoing surgery following an accident. The rescued animals are housed in environments that closely resemble their natural habitats.

PM Modi took part in several heartwarming interactions, feeding and playing with giraffes, rhinos, and even a golden tiger. He also met rescued Chimpanzees, Orangutans, and elephants, with the latter receiving treatment in the Centre’s world’s largest elephant hospital.

Additionally, PM Modi participated in the release of parrots that had been rescued and met with the doctors and staff managing the Centre’s operations. He extended his wishes for World Wildlife Day, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity conservation and India’s role in protecting wildlife.
